Red day- finger painting-Sept 16

Finger painting with my sweet three year olds was quite the adventure!
It was really interesting how they went about painting- some went all for it while others took their time and were very particular on how they wanted it to look.
You can also see some red lips- we had red punch for our snack.

Thursday the 16th was RED day! We all wore red (thank you!) and had a few activities with the color of the day! Each child was given a red play dough ball to take home for at home use. We also played with them in class. We had a red finger paint activity where we painted an apple red. These will be their binders at the end of the year. Each child also made a red book that they brought home.

"B" week-beads & blocks- Sept 15, 2010

Wednesday the 15th we talked about family and friends. We showed our pictures of our families and discussed who is in our families. We also read a story about family and one about friends. We read a poem on friends and their emotions. For the letter B, we practiced printing the letter. This page is kept for our binders to practice at the end of the year.

Tyler as the star & bead necklaces-Sept 14, 2010

Tuesday the 14th we practiced our hand washing skills. We wet our hands, got soap on them and sang a little song…”Top and bottom, top and bottom, in between, in between. Put them all together, put them all together, now they’re clean, now they’re clean.” Sung to the tune of Frere Jacques. We rinsed and dried with a paper towel- always remembering to throw the paper towel again.

We also discussed opposites- clean and dirty with our clean & dirty dog page.
We read Bubble Bear for our letter of the week: B. The kids also got a bottle of bubbles!

Food time & my listening ears-Sept 9, 2010

This is a double of this picture but I thought it was too cute!

Our lessons this week were on getting used to preschool and going over our classroom rules & getting to know you.
The rules are:
Eat politely, Share, Listen, Put things away, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, take turns, keep your hands to yourself (I call this one the octopus rule), raise your hand, help each other, and say please and thank you. There are posters on my wall for each rule to help them remember..I know it is hard sometimes to remember 

I also told them about my special ears- I have manner ears- they only hear manners. If they are asking for something, I ask them “what?” or “I didn’t quite hear you.” – hopefully prompting them that they need to use their manners if they need something. They usually catch on quickly and their friends help them out if they forget.

We got to know each other with a small questionnaire about their senses. I had each child come up and we discussed the answer of what they gave. It was fun to find similarities with the students- they were so excited that they were alike.

Comments from previous Kinder-Tots parents

Hello! I just wanted to share some comments that I have received from previous parents of students that I have had through the years.
Thanks for stopping by- Miss Alisha

"Our family loves Miss Alisha! We had two of our children attend her preschool. Miss Alisha was always organized and enthusiastic with the children and with her curriculum, which was wonderful and effective. Our children always had such a fun time at her preschool. We were so impressed with how much they learned from her. We were always in awe at how much she was able to cover in class and teach the kids. She has a great gift for interacting with and teaching children. We loved the songs that she taught the children and how well they were able to learn several concepts through them. We have had our children in two other preschools other than Miss Alisha's and have been sadly disappointed that they are no where near as good as her's and have learned no where near as much as they did with her." Love, The Stephenson Family

“Kinder-tots preschool was a wonderful opportunity for my kids to begin learning the skills and information they would need to have a positive experience in kindergarten. Miss Alisha is energetic and organized, always able to keep kids involved with her love and enthusiasm for teaching. Two of my children have attended her preschool and both came away with confidence, knowledge and excitement to attend school which will be a positive thing in all the years ahead! What a great way to start of their lifelong adventure of learning!” ~Kellie Elzinga

“Kinder-Tots Preschool was awesome. Having had my kids in your preschool for three years in a row, I was more than pleased with the efforts above and beyond what you had to do. The curriculum, activities, parent nights and thought put into you schedules were SO meaningful from a parent’s perspective. Obviously, I want my little ones in a place they feel loved and important; I definitely feel they had their place with you. The foundations of a curriculum and play time were met in a fun, creative way! I have lots and lots of pictures, notes, and binders to prove how much you did with both my children. (You just quit a year too early on us! :) We will NEVER forget you and your family. We wish you all the best in your new adventures!” Love, The Gardner Family

“You are such an awesome teacher and I knew you couldn't stay away from it too long:) That is great news that you will be teaching again! I really liked how the kids worked on a remembrance book throughout the year. Garrett enjoys looking at his and is very proud of his work that he has done. I also liked that you had a day to focus on just Kindergarten skills with Garrett. He of course enjoyed the birthday celebrations and the field trips as well:) Good luck with getting your preschool started. I think it will go really well there!" Love, April Forman

"How exciting for you to start a preschool there in Nevada. You always did such a great job down here and I know they will love you there too!
I really loved your motivation, organization and love for the kids! I also really liked the family reading nights. It was a great idea to encourage reading between families.
Noah said he really liked the art projects and reading books. And of course loved Miss Alisha! :)
Best of luck to you! What lucky kids to have you as their preschool teacher! Thanks again for all you did for Noah. He had a great time and learned so much! -- Tobi Navarro"
