Today we talked about Mexico and Cinco de Mayo- we even learned some basic Spanish words. I thought that I would share the photos of them in the sombrero. So cute!!

Our ocean month
During this month as we are talking about the ocean and all the aspects, I wanted to create a "bulletin board" that could showcase some of the art projects that we will be making. I will put them on the wall and then they will be sent home next month. Well I had the kids on Friday paint the ocean for me and these are some pictures from that.

Monthly update!
Hello parents-
Just wanted to let you know what we are going to be doing in the weeks ahead with our alphabet. We are DONE with the alphabet and moving on with review and reading certain word families. We will be reviewing half the alphabet on Tuesday and the other half Thursday. The following week- April 22, 24: we will be learning about -an and -am word families.
Each day your child will be bringing a word book home with the family we practiced and learned about. Please review this with your child- this is how they are going to learn to read. I think they are going to fly with these word families- I just need your help at home.
April 28 (Monday) and the 29 (Tuesday)- we will be learning -ag & -ug families and the next week, May 6, 8: -ip and -op families.
Reminders:
Book orders for April are due on Tuesday the 15th.
No school on Friday April 25th due to April Break.
Classes will be changed the last week of school due to me being out of town Thursday the 1st and Friday the 2nd. We will have class Monday the 28th and Tuesday the 29th. My "Fun for Fours" class will be on Wednesday the 30th. Thanks for your willingness in being so flexible with these classes and with this last Thursday and the change in time in the morning. You are GREAT!!!
I will post some pictures soon and I will be working on a slideshow too! How exciting!

April events
Hello parents!
Just wanted to let you know about some of the things happening in April.
The week of April 13-19th is the Week of the Young Child. This event is sponsored annually by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of this celebration is to spread the news that young children are important! Across the nation, those who care for young children use this time to build community awareness of the needs of young children and their families.
One suggestion for the week is to have a "Turn off your TV" family night. I know that we tend to corral around the TV at night when we are all winding down, but to spend time together one night without the TV as the focal point would be great for your children. Maybe visit our local library and check out some books (our theme this month is all about the ocean), go bike riding, go on a neighborhood walk or visit a park. Just a chance to take advantage of the night together and maybe use this great weather while it is still some what cool. Just an idea for you!
Earth Day is also this month on the 22nd. As a family, you could make an effort to recycle more, use your car less or other ways to help our environment. Just a thought :)
Hope these are interesting to you. I will be on often with pictures and notes about the class.
