Friday: We practiced printing the letter “L” and then went upstairs for play time with play food, puzzles and tinker toys. During this time, I pulled each child aside to work on the number 4. For snack time, we had lemonade, fruit leather and 4 graham crackers. We learned how to count to 4 (easy) in English and in Spanish. We also practiced printing our numbers in the air with our numeral song. We colored four petal flowers on our practice sheet. After that, we dot painted four spots on a giraffe and used our fingers to make 4 finger print ants going into an ant hole.
For “L” practice, we cut our 6 pictures of different things- 4 of them started with “L”. The students had to pick the “L” pictures out. Then we pasted Lenny on the page, we painted the lake blue and added the 4 “L” pictures to the lake. I tried to paint a bit early so they would dry BUT with the excess of paint used  that wasn’t the case.
We read a few poems about the number 4 and the letter “L”. We were finished with the day and the week!

Thursday: We worked on tracing then went upstairs to play with tinker toys, play food and puzzles. Our day was about the number two. During play time, I took each child aside to practice the printing of the number two. During Circle time, I talked with the kids the difference between a square and a rectangle. During class time, we had our Kitten and her jar poster. She had two apples in hers. We put 2 pumpkins in our jar to go along with the month and the color orange. We talked about how orange is made up of two colors. We practiced with scissors as we cut out our 2 balls for our worksheets. We glued them on then we colored them. I sent home the two hands worksheet for extra practice. We also sang the numeral song as we practiced the numbers in the air and we also learned that two is dos in Spanish. “D” was also practiced at the end of class with the sign and sound. We painted again with bingo dots to go along with “D”.

Wednesday: After printing practice, we went upstairs to play with links, legos and animals. Our theme for the day was fire safety. We read about “Firefighter Ted” and we talked about how we need to crawl when there is smoke in the house. I have a tunnel that I had each child climbed through and practiced yelling for mom and dad when they do smell smoke. We also talked about Stop, drop and roll and when we do this. We all practiced it and colored a worksheet about it. I discussed the “My family is fire safe” worksheet- teaching about fire detectors and what they do. I hope that your family can create a fire safety route in case of a fire so your family is safe.
For “L” practice, we colored our page about Lenny Lion and found the longest lizard. At the end of class, each of your children got a fire station helmet.

Tuesday Oct 12th- Orange day

Tuesday: We started with scissor practice and then went upstairs and played with animals and transformers. Dexter was our star of the week so he helped with Circle Time. It was ORANGE day- thanks for having your child wearing orange for the day. We read a story “White Rabbit’s Color day”. I have colored paddles that are red, yellow and blue. I showed them that when we take red and yellow and put them together, we get orange. Then I let them put the color paddles together to make orange themselves. We went to the table to make our Orange books that were in their folders. Then we painted with cookie cutters of carrots and pumpkins and dipped them in orange paint to make a basket of orange vegetables. “D” was the letter of the week- we practiced our sign for the letter and its sound. We met Danny Dog and how he loves to play with his dinosaurs.
((Sorry that there isn't more pictures- busy day! I wish I had more hands to take pictures of the kids when they are painting and doing art activities- they are so cute!))

Monday Oct 11th- Following the Rules

Monday: Since it was “L” week, we first started with scissor practice then played with Lincoln Logs and Medium sized legos (duplos). Nya was our star of the week- she helped at circle time. We learned all about her in her binder and show and tells throughout the week.
Our theme was following the rules. We talked about rules of the road and different signs that we see on the road. We used road sign manipulatives- organizing them in groups and counting them. After that, we talked about the rules of the classroom. We really have remembered them through the pictures and it was a great time to review. We also practiced stop and go with our stop signs.
Lenny Lion was the friend of the week for the letter “L”. He loves his lemonade and climbing up his ladder to get it. He also loves to play with lizards. I practiced the letter “L” with the kids during play time (not a hard one to do) and we also learned its sign and sound. We read our “L” story together and I gave each child a lollypop at the end of the class.

Thursday Oct 7th- fairy tales day

Thursday we had a fairy tale day to go along with our new monthly theme: I can imagine! I had each child practice tracing from left to right at table time. Afterwards, I had my castle and tunnel set up for some imagination play. I also brought out a big box of puppets for them to play with as well. At the beginning of each month, I measure how tall they have gotten and we complete a page about the month. This will be in the binders at the end of the year. The fairy tales that were told were Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella. I also talked about safety with strangers and how Little Red disobeyed her mom when she talked to a stranger.
For each fairy tale, we made puppets for the kids to take home then they could tell the story to their families.
For “C” time- we colored our “C” page with crayons. They turned out quite colorful!!
