April events

Hello parents!
Just wanted to let you know about some of the things happening in April.

The week of April 13-19th is the Week of the Young Child. This event is sponsored annually by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of this celebration is to spread the news that young children are important! Across the nation, those who care for young children use this time to build community awareness of the needs of young children and their families.
One suggestion for the week is to have a "Turn off your TV" family night. I know that we tend to corral around the TV at night when we are all winding down, but to spend time together one night without the TV as the focal point would be great for your children. Maybe visit our local library and check out some books (our theme this month is all about the ocean), go bike riding, go on a neighborhood walk or visit a park. Just a chance to take advantage of the night together and maybe use this great weather while it is still some what cool. Just an idea for you!

Earth Day is also this month on the 22nd. As a family, you could make an effort to recycle more, use your car less or other ways to help our environment. Just a thought :)

Hope these are interesting to you. I will be on often with pictures and notes about the class.

Thanks Alisha for doing this site! It is a great way to keep in touch and see what our little kiddo's are up to at school. On the down side, it means more work for you! :( Thanks for all of your hard work!
