Thursday March 3rd- Opposites: big & little

We started our day with clothespin name practice- putting our letters in our names in order and then heading upstairs to play with puzzles, big plastic blocks and Star Wars toys. During our playtime, I measured their heights and asked them some questions from our March All about me page. Claire helped us practice our colors and shapes with our flashcards. After our review, we counted to 15- counting like turtles nice and slow to go along with our T day. We also counted in Spanish and sang our days of the week song. Our class helped with weather time and we boogied with the alphabet song. We tapped our toes as we sang our T song and made the T sign. We wiggled and had a fun snack- Big and little oreos to go along with our theme- the opposites: big and little. Thanks Ann & Claire!
We practiced our new nursery rhyme again after Claire showed us her show and tell. We talked about our theme the opposites big and little. I showed the students a variety of different items that they had to tell me which was the big one and the little one. Then we practiced making our bodies big and little. I let each child come to the front and they could become big or little and then the other students had to tell what they were trying to be. They seemed to like becoming big and then little :) For our art time, we painted with big and little paintbrushes with the water colors. Each student made a piece of art! Then I had each of them paint their T worksheet and we practiced our T sound while we painted. We cleaned up and then got our t stamp and we were done with our opposites day.
