Monday Sept 27th- Forest Animals
Monday-Forest animals- We started the day with practicing our scissor skills. Thanks for the help at home- I am seeing improvement. Upstairs, we played with lacing cards and Lincoln logs. I took each child aside to practice the letter “A”- our letter of the week. Ethan was our star of the week- Thanks for all the great snacks Jean & Ethan!
We talked about the forest animals. Our Scholastic book order had just come and we looked at some of our new books for the classroom about forest animals. Thanks for the awesome order- I got some wonderful books for the classroom! I have a poster of the animals and each child we able to come and find an animal in the forest and I gave them some facts about each one. Deer, foxes, bears, beavers, snakes, chipmunks, and groundhogs are the animals we discussed. We also did a worksheet about matching each animal to their home.
For the letter “A” we learned the sounds- the “A”, “aahh” and “uuh”- I talked about how “A” is special because it is the only letter with three sounds and how it is also a vowel that helps to make words. We found that the letter “A” is in all of our names so it is important! We read about Abby Alligator and her adventures and ended the day with our “A” stamp.
