Art time- eyedropper art & Native American stamped headbands

At table time, we practiced our scissor skills with curvy lines. Didn’t do so hot but that is what the practice is for. We can always use more practice in this area. Please make sure that your child is pointing their thumb to the sky though so they are using the scissors correctly. The easy way to cut for the kids is to point their thumb down to the ground but then they have no control of the scissors. Thanks for your help with this!
Upstairs, we played with puzzles, books and duplos. I also measured them and stamped their handprints for our monthly binder sheet and helped them with practicing the letter “P”.
For circle time, Ethan was our star. He helped with pointing to our colors, shapes and dressing our weather person. We also met our new letter friend- Petey Porcupine who likes to paint pictures. He also likes the colors pink and purple and to eat pineapple. We practiced the sound “P” like popping popcorn and the sign. This is the hardest sign for kids to make- it isn’t easy. We will continue to practice though.
For our class, I wanted to do a variety of different art techniques with the kids. First we talked about different kinds of art and materials that artists use. Then we got covered up in our art smocks and did some eyedropper art with brown- we are going to make turkeys with these. Then we made our Native American headbands using stamps and dot art. These came home with your child. Our art projects took up so much time that I just talked about the letter “P” with the kids as we cleaned up. They got “P” stamped and they were off.
