Wednesday November 3rd- Puppets & pretending

Posted by Picasa

At table time, we traced their names. Upstairs, we played with puppets, little legos and cars and truck on a city mat. We also explored the new November books in the library area. I practiced the letter “V” with each child during this time.
At circle time, Campbell helped with shapes and colors and we discussed our new month- November! Our calendar had changed as so had the special days of the month. We talked briefly about Veteran’s day and what a veteran is. We also talked a bit about Thanksgiving and what we do on that holiday. We also found that our letter of the week is in our new month! We met our new letter friend- Vinnie vulture who likes to use his vacuum (my kind of guy) and work on his van. We learned the sign of “V” and its sound. We were “va”rooming all over the room like Vinnie’s van.
We started our new monthly poem- The Turkey. It is in each of the folders for at home practice.
For instruction time, we talked different kinds of artists because our new monthly theme is All about the arts. We discussed different kinds of puppets and how we pretend when we play.
For alphabet time, we continued to practice the letter “V” and we read the story “Vera Viper’s Valentine”.
