Friday May 13th- Games day

For letter practice, each child was able to pick two letters and completely trace each one- lower and uppercase four times. Upstairs I had Littlest Pet Shop, nuts and bolts and foam blocks waiting for the kids to play with. I was working on assessments of colors, shapes and number to 10 with each child during this time. Play time was a little long because I wanted to complete this section with each child today.
I was the star so we quickly ran through our circle time routine and then we reviewed five more sight words and our sight word of the week- mad. The kids wiggled and then we went downstairs to create our own smoothies or shakes. We enjoyed them back upstairs with crackers and graham crackers. After snack we read some and then we practiced our poems together.
Because our day was a games day, I divided our time into 15 minute segments so we rotated games that the students brought in. I did 2 segments of 3 games each. We had some games that did well and some didn’t go off so well but the kids had fun and that was the purpose of our day. We are down to the end of our year so I want to have some fun days where the students can enjoy some unstructured fun time with each other.
After our games were done, we did two games of class Jenga everyone getting a turn to take out a piece of wood out of the stack. They had a lot of fun with this. We played til the very end of class and then we had to clean up and head on out for our weekend off.
