Downstairs we started with our name practice and then went upstairs to play with foam blocks and duplo blocks. I started to work on year end assessments of the students during this time and then we cleaned up for circle time. Shiann helped with our colors review as it was our theme for the day. Circle time was the same as Tuesday’s and Shiann helped with circle time duties. We wiggled, ate unbirthday cupcakes for Shiann’s special day and we sang to her. We cleaned up from the mess and then we looked at books and enjoyed Shiann’s show and tells she brought to share.
To review our nursery rhyme for May- Little Boy Blue we sang to the song and then went over to the table to color the 4 different puppets for the rhyme. Once we were completed, we sang one verse to the song with our puppets then I put them in the folders.
For our color review day, we first started with reading the book “My world of color”. Once we completed that, we went to the table to color our own version of our world of color. This was a good opportunity to review the colors as they were asked to find them in their baskets of crayons. They colored each item and then went we were completed with the two pages, we came back to our carpets to read the book “The Crayon box that Talked”. It reviews the importance of kindness, working together as a team and shows the beauty of colors around us. Afterwards, I read “Colors” book and we had the chance to see many things in our world that are certain colors. We reviewed with student participation what each color was.
Then we had the chance to do our color wheel science experiment at the table. The kids were very patient as I had to prep each color wheel at the table with the colors on the wheel. Each child mixed the liquid watercolors with a toothpick. Once each color was complete, I placed the paper towel on top to absorb the colors they had created. After we did that, I reviewed each color and what secondary color it had created together.
I got our folders and bags together and we were finished for the week.
