Mon Oct 17- Vehicles that carry people & things

Each child practiced their name when they came into class and then I had trains, cars and trucks to play with upstairs. During play time, I had your child over to the table to work on our letter of the week- “C”! We had Rome as our great star of the week helping me on the colors and shapes during circle time. We also met our letter animal friend- Callie Cat and how she likes her camera and carrots. We also learned that “C” makes two sounds and that makes C sneaky- “C” as in cat, carrot or color (and the letter K sound) and “C” as in circle and cent (and the letter S sound). We also practiced our sign- have your child show you their curved fingers to make a “C”. Please practice with them a bit more because some of the kids were adding the sounds together then making the “X” sound- they liked saying them together instead of separately. For class time, we talked about vehicles that carry people and things. We found that many vehicles carry both! I used our city poster and had each child find a vehicle that carries people, things or both. Then I had a poem or song that goes along with each vehicle. For letter C time, we finished our letter C page by coloring the cat on the couch. For story time, we read about Copycats and how they try to follow anything the other cat does and they try to do it better. We sang our C song and sign again and I gave each child their C stamp.
