Tuesday October 11- Orange day

We started our day with our name practice and then went upstairs to play with orange playdough. Each child brought this home in their bags to play with there. I practiced the letter E with each child individually- We gave E a strong back from top to bottom and then added a head, arms and legs. For the lowercase e, we went across the center line and then brought it all the way around. Jax was our star and her helped with colors and shapes practice. For circle time, the class reviewed the date, sang days of the week, counted to 11 and we had weather time. I have a Autumn song that we sing and dance to and then we went into alphabet time, We do the alphabet boogie and then we sang our ABC song to F today. We practiced that E has two sounds- E as in eat and E as in elephant. After snack time, we looked at Jax’s show and tell and read his binder. We sang Jack and Jill and then we started with our lesson. It was ORANGE day- thanks for having your child wearing orange for the day. We read a story “White Rabbit’s Color day”. I have colored paddles that are red, yellow and blue. I showed them that when we take red and yellow and put them together, we get orange. Then I let them put the color paddles together to make orange themselves. Then we painted with cookie cutters of carrots, pumpkins and oranges and dipped them in orange paint to make a basket of orange fruits and vegetables. I read “I like pumpkins” story to the class and we discussed what things are orange around us and then we went to the table to make our Orange books that were in their folders. For “E” time, we colored our E is for egg sheets that we had completed during play time and I read “The Enormous Elephant Show” to the class and reviewed all the words that begin with E in the story and other things that begin with E in our world. You have this story in their folder as well. We practiced the two sounds again as I stamped their hands and we were off.
