Wed Nov 2- Puppets and pretending

Downstairs, I had each child cut out a page of puppets. These came home Friday with popcicle sticks and cover for a cereal box to play puppets. Upstairs, I had food, puppets and puzzles ready for imaginative play day. I measured each child for their November All about me page for their binders and stamped their handprints on the back. I then traced their hands and they wrote their names for the Brown Turkey books that we will completing throughout the month for Thanksgiving. Sally helped with color name flashcards and we learned all about our new month- November! Our calendar had changed as so had the special days of the month. We talked briefly about Veteran’s day and what a veteran is. We also talked a bit about Thanksgiving and what we do on that holiday. I also talked about our birthdays of the month that we will be celebrating. We practiced counting in Spanish since we only had to go to 2. After weather time, we practiced our ABC song and reviewed the letter V. Vinnie’s sound of the letter V makes our lips vibrate and sometimes make theme tickle. We also practiced our sign- putting two fingers (pointer and middle) up in the air-one of the simple signs. We also reviewed all the signs and sounds of the year so far. The class wiggled and we ate our snacks. After which, we had some time with our new library of November books. For poem time, I introduced our new poem- The Turkey. Your child has this poem in their folder. It will get us in the spirit of the turkey season. For instruction time, we talked different kinds of artists because our new monthly theme is All About the Arts. We discussed different kinds of puppets and how we pretend when we play. I also addressed the different types of art and which ones are the students’ favorites. I gave them some questions to see what would be their choice when given two options. For alphabet time, we continued to practice the letter “V” by coloring the V practice page from Monday and then we read the story “Vera Viper’s Valentine”. I sent home the Vinnie Vulture coloring sheet for fun at home. I stamped the letter V on each child’s hand and we lined up and headed out to meet our parents. AM Class-
