Thurs Oct 27- #4

Each child started the day with practicing the letter D at the table downstairs and then went up to play. I had Mr. Potato Head, magnetic letters and shapes, links and colorful bears to play with. I brought each student aside to practice printing the number 4 and then they had to work on counting finding all the flowers with 4 petals and coloring them yellow. I changed circle time up with reading a story- The Shape of Things. Each child had to find a shape and let me know what it was. Circle time was different because it was a Thursday not a Monday, Wednesday or Friday like we used to. We practiced counting to 27 like ducks quacking each number then we sang our songs- days of the week, autumn and months of the year. We also have learned our ABC song up to M. We practiced the letter D- sound and sign and then we reviewed all the signs that we have learned so far this year. For our PM class, we sang Happy Birthday to Kate today at snack time and she gave each girl a fun gift bag! Thanks Kate and Kristi! After snack time which was 4 apple slices and 4 graham crackers, we finished Cole’s binder and we read a Halloween story. For class time, I had each child practice on their own white boards the number 4. Then we sang the numeral song up to 4 practicing drawing the numbers in the air. At table time, each child colored four spots on a giraffe and four ants on an anthill. For letter time, we came back to our rectangles and practiced the sound and sign for the letter D. I explained how to make out letter friend-Dotted D Dragon and then each child made one at the table. This came home today as well as number 4 home work and a fun coloring sheet with Danny Dog. We also passed off our extra poem- Five Little Pumpkins. Have your child recite it to you- it is too cute! I only took pictures in PM class- sorry!
