Friday February 4th- Number 13
I have made printing practice of all the letters of the alphabet. Today each child could pick which letter they wanted to practice printing and then they had to write their names on the back. Upstairs they played with Mr. Potato Head, lacing cards and duplo blocks. During this time, I was measuring their height and asking them the questions for their All about me page for February. Benjamin helped with practicing our colors and shapes. For circle time, we practiced all of our skills that we do each day. We jiggled bells on the 4 as we counted to 20 to celebrate for Chinese New Year. I also showed them on the globe where China is and some things they do to celebrate there. We also practiced our sight words- I did introduce them to Sis, who is a snake in the books. Some of my students are progressing so well with these books- keep it up! After we got all of our wiggles out and had snack time, Benjamin shared his little dinosaur show and tell with us. We completed our All about me February pages- they are growing in so many areas and it is exciting to see their progression. For our lesson today we were focusing on the number 13. We practiced counting in English and Spanish to 13 and then each student practiced printing it on their own. The number 3 is a harder number to print and some of my students needed extra help. We also did some one on one counting as we counted strips on flags-one activity on the worksheet. We found that the United States flag has 13 strips and I explained why it does with them. We also did some painting today- giving each rooster 13 corn kernels. We had a hard time listening on this activity- some of the kids were really excited and had a hard time not painting more than they should :) For letter time, we play letter bingo. They had to search for the letter and picture on their bingo cards. We had fun ending the week with a game.
