Tuesday January 18th- Blue day

Posted by Picasa

We started our day with scissor time and then went upstairs to play with our blue play dough and blue toys- beads, duplos and big plastic blocks. At circle time, Payten helped with shapes and colors. We practiced counting to 15 and our days of the week. We met Nancy Nurse and the letter N. Nancy likes necklaces and the newspaper. Nancy also likes animal noises. We each shared our favorite animal noise and we had to guess what animals we were. We had a great time pretending we were animals :) We practiced our sound to the letter N- we were having a harder time with this sound just because it is close to the letter M. The sign was slightly easier than M from last week- our little fingers have a harder time with the signs. We read some words that start with N and then we went on to our alphabet boogie and wiggle song.
After snacks, we worked on our puppets for Humpty Dumpty. We listened to the songs numerous times as we colored. Then we practiced the rhyme with our puppets while we sang the song. I hope your child can tell you this nursery rhyme. For blue day, we did a review of what we were wearing for the day- everyone was wearing BLUE (thanks moms).
I read a poem all about things that are blue and we learned that blue is a primary color meaning that you cannot mix colors to get blue. At the table, we finished our blue book. Each child colored their special thing that was blue on the back. Some family members ended up blue because they love you so much that they wanted to draw you in blue!
We kept working with the blue crayon as we colored our baskets blue. After that, we added blueberries in the basket which was our finger prints in blue ink. They filled those baskets up with fingerprint blueberries.
For letter time, we read the story- The Nicest Newt and we learned that sometimes even the nicest newt can be a little naughty :) We practiced our sound and sign again as we got our stamp of the letter N. Each child was also able to pick out a necklace to go along with our N day!
