At table time, we practiced our “O”- upper and lowercase and stamped with our O stamps on the back. Upstairs, we played with Mr. Potato Head and links. Nya finished up her star duties with colors and shapes practice. We counted up to 20 and learned 11 in Spanish then we counted in Spanish up to 11. We finished our calendar time with practicing the letter O- sign and sounds.
After snack time, I took each child aside to count out 11 bananas for an activity we would do later in class. I am having a problem with the students not knowing how to count objects. I will continue to work with each child individually but this could be something to do at home as well.
For instruction time, we talked about the number eleven. That it is simple to write because it is only two ones together. We counted in English and Spanish up to 11 and then we went over to the table for 11 practice. First we colored a monkey and then glued on 11 bananas for him. Afterwards we each counted the bananas again. For printing practice, we printed the number 11 and then did a coloring activity.
For letter time, each student cut out picture cards that either started with an “O” or not. We kept the “O” words and glued them on our big letter “O”. At the stairs we talked about the number 11 again and practiced our sounds of the letter “O”.
