Thursday February 17th- Star shape

We practiced our names downstairs and then upstairs we played with links, littlest pet shop and duplos. I took each child aside to practice our shape of the day- the star! This was the hardest one we had done and I helped them along the way. Audrey helped review our shapes and colors and then it was calendar time. We reviewed the date, counting to 17 today and in Spanish to 7. Our “days of the week” song comes next followed by practicing our months of the year. After weather time, we alphabet boogied and then we reviewed our letter of the week- R. We talked about Rodney Raccoon and his rocket, roller skates and radishes. We also sang our R song and showed Miss Alisha the sign for R.
After that, we got our wiggles out, ate our snacks and then had some book time until show and tell time by Audrey. We practiced Hey Diddle, Diddle one time and then we were ready to start learning about the star. We sang twinkle, twinkle little star and then we counted the sides of the star- there are 10 sides!! I read the star poem to them about our friend the star fish. We went to the table and we added star stickers to our star for our binder and then colored it nicely. After that, we made a scene of the night sky with the moon and stars. I sent home a star can be a badge page to color and review the shape.
For letter time, we colored our Rr sheet and practiced tracing the letter R all by ourselves! Then we reviewed the sound and sign for the letter R as we got the lowercase r stamped on our hands.
