Friday January 28th- Number 12

On Fridays, we practice the letter of the week and stamp the letter on the back of our practice sheet. Upstairs, I had puppets, duplo blocks and big puzzles out for the students to play with. During this time, I did individual name practice with each child. I took each letter of their names and wrote it on a circle and then glued the circle onto a clothespin. For each child, we reviewed their letters of their name and they had to put them in order by clothes pinning the letter to their folder. This is great for helping them with which letters are in their name, what order they go in as well as their fine motor skills. I will be doing this weekly until they have it down.
After play time, Zach helped us with color and shape review. Calendar time was great as we worked on counting, and reviewing our days of the week. I taught them 12 in Spanish (doce) as we practiced our numbers in Spanish. We also sang months of the year and practice X for the last time this week. After snack time, I took each student aside and they had to count 12 paper eggs out for one of our activities.
For the lesson, we worked with the number 12. I read the 12 dancing princesses to the class. At the table, we practiced printing the number 12 by ourselves and we had to find dominoes with 12 dots on them and circle them. We also colored a nest and glued in the 12 eggs that we had counted into the nest.
For letter time, we talked about different signs that have X on them and what they mean. Then we cut them out and glued them on our big X to take home.
