At table time, we did name practice- we are improving our names. It is required now that the kids have to write their own names on their papers in class. Some might need prompts on what the next letter in their name is but for the most part they are doing great! Upstairs, we played with wooden blocks, dolls for Nya and cars and trucks with a town mat. For some reason, this morning was a rough one with thinking that we needed to use our outside voices inside- it was a little loud :) Nya helped with our letter practice and we were on to the rest of our circle time. We continued to practice the letter O and its sounds and sign. After snack time, we had our book time to explore all the stories on snow, dinosaurs and our 5 senses. I keep finding more stories each day on my bookshelves that can we added to our monthly library.
For our lesson, we reviewed the different types of homes a person can have from what we learned on Monday. We continued with the theme of the rooms of our home and we talked about our kitchen. We all knew that is where we eat but we also discusses what appliances are in the kitchen that are helpful for us- one that they couldn’t think of was the dishwasher- I am sure when they are older they will appreciate this one a lot! We also talked about safety in the kitchen and we don’t play with stove/oven or things are hot or sharp kitchen tools because we could get very hurt.
For practice, I had each child color and cut out a kitchen tools worksheet. My goal was to teach the student how to compare sizes and put them in order from smallest to tallest. We had a hard time with this so this would be a great thing to work with your child on- which one it taller or which one is shorter. Give them a few things to compare and allow them to learn hands on.
For letter time, we did a maze to get Ollie Otter back to the office. On the back of the worksheet was the Ollie Otter coloring sheet that your child colored. We practiced our sounds again for the letter O and also practiced our sight words- see and Sam. Each child got a O stamp and that was the end of our awesome day!
