Wednesday January 5th- Opposites: Noisy & Quiet

At table time, we practiced our names and then we played with transformers, animals and links upstairs. I have been doing assessments of the students to see if they know the basics- colors, shapes, days of the week and counting. Ethan helped with our letter practice again and then we were on to calendar time. Some of the students have not learned the days of the week as I have wanted them to so we have started doing a better practice on the days and on counting too- many of us don’t know that 15 exists. So more practice on these at calendar time. We have also been practicing our Spanish counting as well.
After snack time, we were on to our theme- the opposites noisy and quiet. We first did a chart of things in our world that are noisy and those that are quiet. Then I brought out the fun stuff- instruments! Each child had a chance to play each one once- we each practiced the instruments noisily and then quietly. We made an observation that when we were playing at a noisy level we were shaking or playing the instruments hard but when we went down to the quieter levels, we played them soft and slowly.
For letter time, we practiced all of the signs for the letters we have learned so far. We will be singing the ABCs while doing our signs at the end of the year. We will be practicing often to get ready
