Fri Feb 3rd- #12

Each child worked on putting their letters of their name in order and then they played with tinker toys, food and links. I pulled each child aside to print and count the number 12. Ella was sick so Miss Alisha was the star today. We counted to 20 clapping and then did a review up to 50 with me counting one number and the class counting the next. We learned 12 is doce and we counted up to it as well as blasting off. We had calendar time and we discussed Groundhog Day and if the students were able to see if he saw his shadow. He did and some of the students were able to check that online. I also learned that this is a new Phil and the old one passed away so the new guy is a baby. We talked about the 6 more weeks of winter and when winter starts and ends in March. We sang our song and practiced our signs and letter sounds for letter time. For show and tell time, I read the 12 Dancing Princesses for number of the day. We counted in English and Spanish to 12 and then went to the table for putting 12 eggs in a nest. I talked that 12 also means a dozen as in doughnuts or eggs. For letter time, I gave them a little treat. We watched the Talking Words Factory video by LeapFrog. I highly recommend these videos as they explain sounds and letters in a way that is exciting and entertaining for the children who watch. After we completed the video, we lined up and were finished for the day and the week!
