Tues Jan 17th - BLUE day
We began our day with name practice and then played with all blue items- links, big blocks, duplos, nuts and bolts, color cards and counting blocks. After a while, I brought out blue play dough for the kids to play with and they brought this home for a little fun. Jax helped with reviewing our colors and shapes and we marched to 20 and did blast off counting. After weather time, we reviewed our letter of the day- Nn! I taught that N has a different sound than its next door neighbor Mm. We also get confused when we say our alphabet because lmnop is not just one letter. I taught them that N’s sound is correctly made when our tongue gets on the back of our front teeth.
After wiggle, snack and show and tell, we read the Little Bunny’s color time book to review our three primary and four secondary colors. . For blue day, we did a review of what we were wearing for the day- everyone was wearing BLUE.
We learned that blue is a primary color meaning that you cannot mix colors to get blue. At the table, we finished our blue book. Each child colored their special thing that was blue on the back. Some family members ended up blue because they love you so much that they wanted to draw you in blue!
We kept working with the blue crayon as we colored our baskets blue. After that, we added blueberries in the basket which was our finger prints in blue ink. They filled those baskets up with fingerprint blueberries.
For letter time, we read the story- The Nicest Newt and we learned that sometimes even the nicest newt can be a little naughty. We practiced our sound as we got our stamp of the letter N.
